7 a.m.—Departing Bogota airport. I like Bogota in May. The rain cools everything off, but not so much that I need to wear socks in my sandals. The city has a bouncy, enthusiastic...
The Washington DC/Philadelphia Exchange, Saturday July 9, 2011, at 8pm and Sunday July 10 at 7pm at Dance Place, went well! Both nights were well attended.
Anne-Marie Mulgrew's group came into town on Friday for tech. There are 6 dancers at a variety of ages and they all get along well: Anne-Marie, Joe, Frances, Leslie, Sean, and Kate. They were a fun group to play with! Before the show on Saturday, they took Deborah Riley's class at Dance Place. On Sunday, they apparently befriended a squirrel in the park: Muffin.
Human Landscape Dance and the repertory class all mixed together well. Most of us knew each other already anyway. Backstage was full of people!
Both performances went well. Saturday night, the bulb blew on the projector during Anne-Marie's piece with a ringing SNAP! No one was hurt, but we missed the final video segment. Sunday night was a strong showing, and no explosions.
Thanks to everyone who participated, performers and technicians, especially Alex, Amanda, Mary, Gretchen, Shoshanna, Shelley, Kaylie, Heather, Ben, and Robin!

Visually arresting
The first/opening scenes of each Human Landscape Dance piece were very visually arresting. I liked the Odysseus piece in particular, but both HLD pieces were great. Odysseus was very realistic, although to the extent to which there was "attraction" between the two was ambiguous. The contrast between the two teams in the Icarus piece was great.
Here we go!
Can't wait for the show!
